BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH CENTER

CAL STATE FULLERTON

FULLERTON, CA

A new $10M, 15,000 GSF center for biomedical research including cell and molecular biology and biochemistry, stem cell, cell tissue culture, protein and RNA isolation, fluorescence microscopy and a vivarium. The Center provides a new collaborative research environment for biomedical research teams while also enhancing access to critical equipment and facilities used by researchers in related disciplines within CSU Fullerton’s adjacent Dan Black Hall. The centerpiece of the Center is an open and highly flexible research laboratory allowing researchers to share major equipment and offering ready access to important instrumentation and support, while maintaining the integrity of a group workplace.

The single story, earth-sheltered building is designed to exceed CSU standards for sustainable design by seeking LEED Gold certification. The building, which includes a partial lower level for the vivarium, includes daylighting, natural ventilation of non-lab spaces, flexible open-plan research offices and links to the main level of adjacent Dan Black Hall
