TVA CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER

TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY

CORDOVA, TENNESSEE

To meet the Tennessee Valley Authority’s expanded customer focus, the firm programmed and designed a Customer Service Center prototype to accommodate marketing, engineering, line and electrician crews, emergency response, and administration teams supporting TVA’s power customers. The highly innovative and flexible design includes space housing team areas, shops, vehicles, and storage. The team spaces and shops are designed with the most current applications of officing concepts that accommodate the staff’s need for a variety of work venues and out of office support. Each staff member has his/her own “home base” as well as access to work areas, sophisticated communication systems, conference and resource centers, which were all designed to meet the challenging requirements of a customer-focused organization. The prototype building for the largest power company in the US exceeded mandated, federal low energy guidelines by 50 percent, as measured by the federal DOE2 energy-modeling program. The single story building lends itself to the use of daylighting and natural ventilation as well as efficient HVAC systems.
